The Canada Goose roundup 2006 took place on Tues 27th June, due to the exceptionally high water level (within a foot of top level) the fences leading to the corral pens did not extend as far out as usual, this resulted in a narrow funnel, the geese when pressed towards the shore were faced in the large part by a wall of reeds or other vegetation and they did not want to go ashore! However at the second attempt and about an hour later than planned, approx 50% of the available flock were landed. We were then able to ring 174 birds and to record the details of 24 retrapped individuals all but one having been ringed at Chew Valley lake in past years

The Canada Goose roundup  2005  at Chew Valley Lake took place on Tuesday 28th June..  Despite rain and Thunderstorms  about 400 geese were rounded up as we limited our ringing to 200 birds due to corral space and the cost of rings some 50 were let go near the shore then another 50 just after landing. The remainder were penned at about 6 p.m. and by just after eight p.m. despite interruption for rain. all the birds were dealt with. 200 ringed  with only 35 retraps
